UITM DI HATIKU OR IS IT?

Last year, I was offered to continue my studies at University Teknologi Mara (UITM) for a Diploma in Public Administration (AM110). What is public administration you may ask? I also didn’t know what is it at first (I know, y’all be questioning me how come you take a course you’re not even sure of? But hear me out…) Well, public administration is associated with the making and implementing of public policies. To sum things up it involves the planning, organising, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting and budgeting in the government.

IS IT MY CHOICE??

Honestly speaking, I don’t know, I did wanted to be a lawyer but the only the path that I generally know how to become one is to take the foundation in law or any diploma relating to law. But here is the twist, I didn’t know that you can continue to pursue law through a diploma in public administration. Yes, I just knew it after the first class in the first semester lol… I also wanted to be an English teacher but I guess God just decided it wasn't for me.

So back to the story, before coming to UITM, I briefly enrolled in form 6 to be exact two weeks only, hahahaha.... Many memories were made within those two weeks 🤣...




I was devastated actually I didn’t get to pursue a diploma in English language as I really loved the language so much and want to teach the language to others. I however was offered two choices that was my third choice Diploma in Biotechnology at Polytechnics and fourth choice Diploma in Public Administration at UITM. After much discussing with my parents and pondering around what is the best choice for myself, I ended up taking Diploma in Public Administration.

INTERIM AND SEMESTER 1

After getting to UITM Samarahan Kampus 2, I still had no idea what have I got into, it didn’t hit me that I was an IPTA student after the ending of Minggu Destini Siswa (MDS). Honestly speaking, it was a major adjustment for me as the environment and how things run there are different. It was all fun and games until the course outline and class distributions started. 

From here, I struggled a lot during interim and semester 1 with unstable emotions going on, confusion, frustration and at times feel like quitting. I even once cried at home thinking to myself if this is what I really wanted to pursue (Taking National Kesatria as my co-curriculum didn’t help also) and why didn’t I continued in form 6 but as the months flew by emotions started to be more stable, everything was gradually getting okay.  Meeting new friends and finding joy in joining activities that I never wanted to in the first place be all the contributing factors for managing my emotions.

One memorable activity was this AGM in which all of us in the class was FORCED to do a performance .I never even imagine myself dancing in front of a crowd of people let alone an audience. But you never know what your missing out on if don't even try...

Another activity that I was unsure should I be joining or not but ended up joining and had a blast 

But even after some struggle to catch up during semester 1, thankfully I passed well sort of... I repeated two papers, Accounting and Mathematics. It was a bummer at first but people make mistakes and sometimes they fail to catch up, so I held my head high and continued on... 

SEMESTER 2

Coming to the second semester, once again I went to parts unknown as I had to repeat two subjects which sucks but I continued on. Exhaustion was always a friend during this semester but to be frank, I really enjoyed semester 2, I tried to make time to have fun and experience new things with people of the same minds.

And voila... Our crew was established, never a dull moment with them by the way

Academics wise was good too, as repeating the subjects isn't as bad as it seems. I found it more helpful as the lecturers are more focused on making you understand the subject as to finishing the syllabus of the subject. Thank Lord, I completed semester 2 with an increase in my CGPA... 

Would I say UITM is at hatiku? We will have to wait for me to answer that question but for now all I can say is half- half... Wish me luck on my quest to get my diploma ❤...
